Usage
Tween 20 is used as an O/W type food emulsifier, either alone or in combination with Span-60, Span-65, or Span-80.
Tween 20 is a water-in-oil type emulsifier and can be used as a solubilizer, dispersant, stabilizer, lubricant, and antistatic agent. In petroleum exploration, it is used as an anti-waxing agent in oil well production to remove wax deposits from oil wells; as a viscosity reducer, it can lower the flow viscosity of crude oil, increasing oil well production and improving transportation capacity. In pharmaceuticals and daily chemical industries, it is used as a solubilizer, penetrant, and dispersant for drugs and cosmetics. Due to its rust-inhibiting and lubricating properties, Tween 20 is used in the preparation of rust-inhibiting lubricants and rust and grease removal oils.
